CAR RALLIES

Although the Organising Committee for the Cyprus Rally were very pleased with the date that had originally been allocated, this new move is very beneficial for the rally. Clerk of the Course, Takis Kyriakides said, ‘ Firstly, the weather in April is almost perfect, warm but not with the high temperatures that we would have in June.   The state of the roads will be much better than in March, as they will have dried out considerably after the winter rains, but at the same time there will be no dust factor.’  He continued, ‘April is considered late spring in Cyprus and the island is covered with wild flowers and the citrus blossom is out in abundance.   Visitors to the island will certainly be able to combine an early sunny holiday with watching the rally.’ 

With the change of the date, the Organising Committee have gained an extra six weeks.  ‘This extra time will very valuable to us, in all areas of the organisation of the rally, but especially in the areas of safety.   The Cyprus Rally has an exceptional safety record and we will be working extra hard to ensure that this standard will be maintained and improved.’ stated Mr. Kyriakides.

The Organising Committee has also announced various promotional schemes to encourage spectators from Europe and the Middle East.  They are working very closely with the Cyprus Tourism Organisation in order to provide as much information as possible to the general public in countries where the CTO have their offices’.
